My web designer says hosting is covered in the project costs
Recently I was approached by a potential client whose website had disappeared. After many hours of work we discovered that their former web designer hosted their website on his personal hosting account. Let me tell you, this is a very bad idea!
Any content on server space that your designer/developer pays for they have the rights to. You can’t access it! Luckily for our new client, they had maintained a relationship with their former developer which meant we were able to recover their content and website.
Some view it as, I want to save money by sharing hosting so let me put it in math terms. Over a 2 year period this company saved $200.00 of hosting fees. Recovering their website cost them over $500 and their website was down for a week. So their net loss is $300.00 and it could have been much worse!
